Fires continue to burn out of control affecting thousands of residents, overworking crews, and sending smoke across the country.
87 wildfires continue to burn out west. Around 1.5 million acres have been set ablaze and smoke from the fires has been detected in New York City. The good news is that rains are expected in the regions of Montana and Idaho.
Tens of thousands of firefighters have been deployed to try and bring the fires under control.
Earlier this summer, fires broke out in 12 states forcing crews to try and stamp out the damage across the western US and stretching those crews to capacity.
Crews say these types of events typically happen a little later in the summer.
