The remains of Dorothy Morgan and another person have been identified. The family of the other victim has requested anonymity.
Dorothy Morgan was an insurance broker in the North Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11. She becomes the 1,646 victim to be positively identified as a result of advancements in DNA technology.
Despite the time lapse, researchers have conducted tests of DNA samples submitted by families of those inside the towers that day. A pause was instituted around 2005 as no more positive identifications were made. But the technological advancements made new testing possible. And despite another interruption for Covid, the agency charged with the investigation continued to make identifications.
Morgan's family and others now have an opportunity to truly say goodbye with a proper burial.
