The Traverse City area offers a new "Wheels on Rails" rail-biking adventure trip.
-Wheels on Rails is a new outdoor experience in the Traverse City, Michigan area.
It is a one-of-a-kind tour utilizing custom made Rail Bikes. The tours take place on out-of-service rail lines and run through the woods of southern Traverse City.
Wheels on Rails, the first rail-biking business in the state, travels along an unused railroad line south of Traverse City. The three miles of tracks Wheels on Rails will use is located near U.S. 31 in Grawn, which is south of Traverse City.
The tours are one hour long. They ride 30 minutes down the line, then the guides will turn the bikes around for each group. The tour will continue while biking back to where the group started from.
Rail-biking excursions can be enjoyed by almost anyone. Infants will need to be secured in a front child carrier. Toddlers may ride in their own seats along with an additional safety harness. No lap riding is permitted. Young children may not be able to reach the pedals but they will be able to sit back and enjoy the ride.
The price to ride: We offer 2 different options:
Tandem Bike (seats up to 2 guests) = $89 rental for the hour or Quad Bike (seats up to 4 guests) = $159 rental for the hour
Reservations are recommended.
