You don't have to travel to the west coast to catch a wave! A local festival looks to introduce you to the waves of West Michigan next weekend!
If you’ve ever thought about learning to surf, you have an opportunity right on the lakeshore.
Our WCSG’s Travelin’ Together series stops at the Lake Michigan Surf Festival scheduled for next week Saturday at Pere Marquette Beach in Muskegon. Organizers are offering not only an opportunity to learn more about the organization and the surfing community in West Michigan.
Surfing lessons will be made available for both beginners and those who are advanced. There are also group lessons available. Lessons are not included in the admissions pass but will be made available for an additional cost. Organizers say the purpose of the festival is to bring people together and most of the water activities will focus on fun for all ages and a safe family atmosphere.
Parking is available at several spots near the park, but free if you have a Pere Marquette park pass. Organizers say parking will likely be at a premium as it should be a nice weekend.
Registration is open until August 9th, but walk ups will be welcome.
