Detroit Tigers icon Miguel Cabrera finishes 21-year MLB career. Comerica Park celebrated with back-to-back sell outs.

The historic career of Miguel Cabrera came to a close at Comerica Park on Sunday, Oct. 1.

21 years in the big leagues, 3174 hits, 511 home runs and a lifetime of memories for fans and players alike.

The formal celebration for Cabrera took place on Saturday but the celebration continued on Sunday with over 41,000 fans.

Detroit’s last home-stand featured several celebrations for the baseball legend. His parents threw out the ceremonial first pitch on Saturday and his children threw out the first pitch on Sunday.

Cabrera went 0-2, but reached base in his final at bat via walk. He also spent one third of an inning at first base. He fielded a hard grounder shot toward first base. Cabrera scooped it and made the out at first base making an unassisted out. It was the last play of his career.

Cabrera will continue to work for the Tigers organization as a special assistant.

I will take you by the hand and guard you, and I will give you to my people, Israel, as a symbol of my covenant with them. And you will be a light to guide the nations. You will open the eyes of the blind. You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in dark dungeons.
