WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is shifting strategy to sell his ambitious social spending plan by getting out of Washington and courting Democrats who have complained they felt left out of the process.
With his legislative agenda in jeopardy in Congress, Biden on Tuesday will visit the Michigan district of a moderate lawmaker who has urged him to sell his proposals more aggressively.
Negotiations continue on a pair of bills on Capitol Hill.
Governor Whitmer will join President Biden this afternoon in Howell, Michigan.
Howell Police, the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police are coordinating with the Secret Service to provide security and traffic control for the event.
The President will be at the Operating Engineers 324 training center in Howell Township and promote an infrastructure plan to repair roads and bridges.
Pres. Biden is scheduled to land at the Capital Region International Airport at 1:20 p.m. and give remarks at the training facility at 3:35, according to a White House release.
