DEARBORN, Mich., (November 29, 2021) - Gas prices in Michigan decreased 3 cents compared to a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.32 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 4 cents more than this time last month and $1.37 more than this time last year.

At the close of Friday’s holiday shortened trading session, WTI decreased by $10.24 to settle at $68.15. While most US oil trading desks were closed on Friday, confirmation of a new COVID variant that could lead to more overseas lockdowns and rising case totals sent fuel prices spinning downward. The sell-off is being pinned to a variant of COVID-19 that has been named Omicron by the World Health Organization.
"While crude oil prices dropped sharply after Thanksgiving, it may not immediately lead to lower pump prices,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. “If crude bounces back near $80 a barrel, then gas prices will likely remain elevated.”
Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price decreased slightly. Metro Detroit’s current average is $3.36 per gallon. This price is 1 cent less than last week’s average but still $1.37 more than this same time last year.
