Aldi plans to add 2 area stores and Chick-fil-A will open another restaurant in Grand Rapids.
Aldi stores are opening two stores over the next two weeks. The Aldi store in Greenville is set to open Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 2009 W. Washington St.
Next week, the Aldi in Hudsonville is scheduled to open Dec. 15 at 4010 32nd Avenue.
At both stores, shoppers will have an opportunity to win a $500 Aldi gift card.
Along with the $500 gift card giveaway, both grocery store locations are offering free goodie bags to the first 100 customers on the opening day. ALDI has 98 grocery stores in Michigan, including three stores in Grand Rapids and two each in Wyoming and Holland.
The newest Grand Rapids-area Chick-fil-A restaurant is set to open this Thursday, Dec. 8. It is located at the site of the former Macaroni Grill at 5528 28th Street SE in the Cascade area. They plan to open for drive-thru orders only and later will offer dine-in options.
To celebrate the grand opening Chick-fil-A, Inc. is donating $25,000 to Feeding America. That will be distributed to partners in the Grand Rapids area to fight hunger. The restaurant is also providing 100 “local heroes making an impact in the Grand Rapids area” with free Chick-fil-A meals for a year.
