Michigan residents get ready for the Labor Day Weekend and MDOT makes adjustments for travelers.

The CDC is advising unvaccinated Americans to stay home this Labor Day weekend due to the spread of the Delta variant and the fact that most students have started back to school in person.

Meanwhile, nearly 60% of lane restrictions in Michigan construction zones will be removed during the Labor Day weekend.  MDOT will pause construction beginning 3 pm Friday .  There may still be some lane shifts and equipment in the area and they ask that drivers use caution in construction zones.

Traffic is expected to spike between Thursday and next Tuesday as travelers take advantage of the three-day weekend.

The Mackinac Bridge will be closed to public traffic on Monday, Labor Day,  from 6:30 am until noon during the annual Bridge Walk.

If you are headed north to ride some ORV trails you may find some of them closed.  Strong storms brought down trees and branches on many trails and some areas are still deemed unsafe.

This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
